BBQ FOR BOOBS REVIEW

BBQ FOR BOOBS was hype last Sunday! This event was a benefit for breast cancer awareness at The Joint in Los Angeles. Rhythm Natives set the tone with a solid set that got the crowd moving. They took hip hop and reggae to another level! Don't sleep on this band, look them up and catch them on tour.  It was an action packed night of strong sets one after another. Mahi Gato, Black Party Politics, Punk Funk Mob and Dead Brain Burockracy kept the energy notch at 100. It was a mix of punk, funk, hip hop, reggae, rock, and alternative at its best!

As the bands performed legendary surfer, William L. Lamar screened his skate and surf videos. Check out his documentary "Soul on a Wave" and stop by his skateboard/surf shop Planet Maple in Los Angeles.

If you missed this event and want to know more about these bands look them up and stay tuned for footage plus interviews from that night. Don't miss the next one!

Go to LAPUNKNOIR.COM for updates and shows. This is that alternative experience. This is real music for real people all of the time!!

They light candles and place them next to the altar. The Aztecs and other Meso -American civilizations kept skulls as trophies and displayed them during the ritual. The skulls were used to symbolize death and rebirth. The Aztecs and other Meso -American civilizations believed that the dead came back to visit during the month long ritual. The natives viewed it as the continuation of life. Instead of fearing death, they embraced it. To them, life was a dream and only in death did they become truly awake. The ritual has evolved to include other cultures like Native Americans and African Americans doing their own dances. This was my third year celebrating this event. Each year Hollywood Forever Cemetery comes ...

Spring Vigilance

Greetings loved ones, This picture reminds me of how connected we are with nature. The tree an extension of myself,  helping me stay balanced and grounded.  I'd like to share what I've been practicing in order to transform into my better self. Perhaps you will find something helpful that will further your inner journey as well.  Practice compassion for those who have separated themselves consciously. Start by forgiving yourself for not being perfect. Love individuals that are difficult to love. Not just particular people, do it without circumstance or demand. Remain vigilant and conscious. Stay present. Be impervious to negativity. Take accountability. Do your inner work. When you know yourself, you trust yourself. The more trust the more self love and self acceptance. Stay connected with nature. I enjoy going to the beach or sitting under a blanket of trees in my garden. Listen to the rhythm of nature. Nature moves with purpose. A vision pulls you forward. Don't...
This was an inspiring weekend for every type of writer who needs a little push. I had fun sharing my poetry with a talented group of Los Angeles poets at the annual LitFest Pasadena.
