March Madness

 Greetings!!
It's my birthday month and I spent the day sunbathing and saying my affirmations. I am thankful for another year of life. No matter where my travels take me I always try to surround myself with a little piece of heaven. I wake up every morning to beautiful mountain views. There are over 200 different species of birds around my area. I enjoy natures orchestra. It keeps me grounded. My spirit is lifted. I went hiking with my closest friends and we were startled by a pack of coyotes who simply acknowledged us and kept going. It gave me a rush and made me appreciate my place in nature as well as all the other creatures.

Over the course of three months I have been seeing 10:10, 11:11, 4:44, 3:33 several times a day. Delightfully intriguing!  I've been finding inspiration everywhere.  It feels exciting. It's becoming easier for my thoughts to flow on paper. This is the year I will finish my manuscript.  My work involves using art as a healing medium through short stories, my personal musings and poetry.  I will also explore the meaning of ancient knowledge and 21st century action for people of color. At times I am misunderstood because people do not see the connection.  You may feel your way is the right path but you must not think that your path is the only way.

I want to thank everyone who sent in submissions to Abstract By Nature Zine Anthology 2013.  I am looking for even more poetry and photography. This is going to be good!
Please contact me if you are an artist, activist or geek interested in sharing your work. The zine will be a mash up of taboo topics, short stories, empowerment, reviews, activism, poetry, promotions, photography, DIY themes. I consider my zine a safe space that promotes dialogue and self expression.

It's time for spring cleaning. Let go of the baggage. No more March madness !! Start fresh, clear the clutter,  eat better urbansoulfarmer.tumblr.com

Stay blessed,
Zoe

Spring Vigilance

Greetings loved ones, This picture reminds me of how connected we are with nature. The tree an extension of myself,  helping me stay balanced and grounded.  I'd like to share what I've been practicing in order to transform into my better self. Perhaps you will find something helpful that will further your inner journey as well.  Practice compassion for those who have separated themselves consciously. Start by forgiving yourself for not being perfect. Love individuals that are difficult to love. Not just particular people, do it without circumstance or demand. Remain vigilant and conscious. Stay present. Be impervious to negativity. Take accountability. Do your inner work. When you know yourself, you trust yourself. The more trust the more self love and self acceptance. Stay connected with nature. I enjoy going to the beach or sitting under a blanket of trees in my garden. Listen to the rhythm of nature. Nature moves with purpose. A vision pulls you forward. Don't...

I'm Reading at the Craft & Folk Art Museum

The CAFAM Shop is thrilled to introduce a new zine/small press section, curated by L.A. Zine Fest and The Pop-Hop . We're celebrating the launch of the new collaboration Saturday, April 18th, and you're invited. Work from The Blk Grrrl Show , John Pham, Yumi Sakugawa :: Comic Book Artist + Illustrator , Tiny Splendor , and Selfish. This is really exciting for me because I have been a zinester since 2010 with the launch of my Black Punk Rock themed zine "Abstract By Nature." I'll be there representing with the #blkgrrrl show and reciting a few of my poems from my chapbook "Rage Love Complexity."  Very honored to share the stage with Pam Ward and Teka Lark Fleming. I donated books and I will have chapbooks available at the Pop Hop in Highland Park, Ca. See you there, Zoe Blaq
This was an inspiring weekend for every type of writer who needs a little push. I had fun sharing my poetry with a talented group of Los Angeles poets at the annual LitFest Pasadena.
