Spring Love Notes

Spring is always a self reflection of who I have become mostly because my birthday is in March. Urban gardening is not just a hobby it's a lifestyle that gives me hope, faith and abundance in a world of uncertainty. A seed is potential. Compost is rebirth. The sun and moon connects us all to growth and prosperity. I am a holistic health advocate who aims to help people reconnect with who they are instead of getting lost in illusion. I have gained tremendous insight from traveling. Food sharing and community has broadened my views on migration and the cultures and traditions that have maintained medicinal herbs and their use.
I will be venturing into this topic in the film DiSpell .

Holistic Health:
Gardening as mindfulness; tune into nature:
The more you grow, the more you will invite butterflies, ladybugs, praying mantis, lizards, hummingbirds and bees. Gardening is inviting a beautiful atmosphere into your environment and having the pleasure to see how we all coexist organically . This is how we come to understand the ecosystem and our interconnectedness.
Gardening is also a form of exercise. We move out of the mind and into the body.  Grounding your feet in the dirt has healing properties. Placing hands in the dirt is an anti depressant.
When in direct contact with the Earth, your body becomes suffused with negative charged free electrons and equalizes to the same electric energy level as the earth.
Gardening is empowerment:
Radical self love is taking back your health by growing your own food.

Dia de Los Muertos

D ia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a  colorful festival celebrating the living. In the United States and in Mexico's larger cities, families build altars in their homes, dedicating them to the dead. They surround these altars with flowers, food and pictures of the deceased. They light candles and place them next to the altar. The Aztecs and other Meso -American civilizations kept skulls as trophies and displayed them during the ritual. The skulls were used to symbolize death and rebirth. The Aztecs and other Meso -American civilizations believed that the dead came back to visit during the month long ritual. The natives viewed it as the continuation of life. Instead of fearing death, they embraced it. To them, life was a dream and only in death did they become truly awake. The ritual has evolved to include other cultures like Native Americans and African Americans doing their own dances. This was my third year celebrating this event. Each year Hollywood Forever Cemetery comes ...
This was an inspiring weekend for every type of writer who needs a little push. I had fun sharing my poetry with a talented group of Los Angeles poets at the annual LitFest Pasadena.

How to Find Purpose

Our purpose is to love ourselves in such a way that love has no choice but to vibrate out to others. Sincerely, Zoe Blaq Holistic Health workshops urbansoulfarmer.tumblr.com DiSpell a film about the African Diaspora sobekfilms.com
